Facebook Launches A New Scrapbook Feature-Tech News
Facebook Launches A New Scrapbook Feature To Keep Photos Of Your Children Organized

Tech News: Facebook Launches a new Scrapbook Feature, which lets parents collect photos of their babies, toddlers, or pre-teens in a centralized place which they can share with friends or loved ones.

Scrapbook serves as a handy tool for amassing all those baby photos and storing them in a dedicated, easy-to-access place on Facebook.

How To Create ScrapBook In Facebook:

1. Users can create a scrapbook where in they have to go to the "about" section of our profiles,

2. and then the "family and relationships" tab. There, they will see options to start a scrapbook from scratch or make one for an existing child.

Parents can only make a Scrapbook for their children and for their partners to add photos or change privacy settings, they will need to be linked via Facebook's relationship status section.

There is a popular trend on Facebook, parents tagging their significant other in any photos featuring their children, which made way of keeping those shots in a central place and making them visible for two sets of friends. Parents can tag their kids in other people's photos, too, and get a notification if the privacy setting of those photos changes.

cyber criminals steal up to $1 billion from banks

Cyber Criminals Steal Up to $1 Billion from Banks

According To New York Time Report A multinational gang of cyber criminals has stolen as much as $1 billion from as many as 100 financial institutions around the world in about two years
Cyber criminals steal up to $1 billion from banks
Cyber Criminals steal up to $1 Billion from Banks
The Gang, which Kaspersky dubbed  Carbanak  takes the unusual approach of stealing directly from banks, rather than posing as customers to withdraw money from companies' or individuals' accounts. It said the gang included Cyber Criminals from Europe, including Russia and Ukraine, as well as China.

Sanjay Virmani, The Director of Interpol Digital Crime Centre Said:
"These attacks again underline the fact that criminals will exploit any vulnerability in any system,"
How Hackers Infiltrated Banks:

  • Carbanak used carefully crafted emails to trick pre-selected employees into opening malicious software files, a common technique known as spear phishing.
  • They were then able to get into the internal network and track down administrators' computers for video surveillance.
  • In this way the criminals learned how the bank clerks worked and could mimic their activity when transferring the money.
In some cases, Carbanak inflated account balances before pocketing the extra funds through a fraudulent transaction. Because the legitimate funds were still there, the account holder would not suspect a problem.

The company said it was working with Interpol, Europol and authorities from different countries to try to uncover more details on what it being called an unprecedented robbery. Carbanak also remotely seized control of ATMs and ordered them to dispense cash at a predetermined time, when a gang member would be waiting to collect the money.

All that's standing between you and Microsoft's Consumer Technical Preview for Office 2016 is an NDA. After launching an early, limited preview of the touch-optimized Office 2016 suite, Microsoft is opening up its program to allow anyone who agrees to a non-disclosure agreement the ability to download the software and test it before it goes on sale.

"Anyone can access the bits under the terms of the NDA," Microsoft said in a response to an inquiry from ZDNet. "And what people are currently accessing is very early NDA preview."

The productivity suite, a staple of many businesses for creating Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations, is slated to release in the latter half of this year. On smaller devices, like phones and sub-8-inch tablets, Office 2016 will be available for free.

What's new in Microsoft Office 2016:

It may take a while for Microsoft to announce all the new Office 2016 features. Right now, the two notable new features for Office 2016 include a new Tell Me tool to help users get acquainted with Office and an automatic image-rotation feature.

Tell Me is already available on Office Online and Office for iPad, and it's headed for Office 2016 for Windows. With Tell Me, users can ask the help assistant how to perform a task in Office.

"There's also an automatic image-rotation feature to help users correctly position images in Office documents, the screenshots indicate, as well as a new 'black' theme option for Office users (in addition to the current light gray, dark gray and white themes)," ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley reported.

Additionally, InfoPath will drop from the Office suite, making InfoPath 2013 the last release of the client. Microsoft, however, is extending support for InfoPath Forms Services to 2016.

How to download Microsoft Office 2016:

If you're interested in previewing Office 2016,
  • you can head over to Microsoft's Connect site and sign up.
  • The sign-up process asks you to enter the email where you'd like to receive an invitation to participate in the beta, but as Foley confirmed earlier, any email address will work. Just remember that what you're seeing and testing is under NDA.
  • After entering your mail address, you'll be able to download the necessary bits to install the preview on your system.

Verizon FiOS app vulnerability Leaked 5 Million Customers Email Addresses

A critical vulnerability discovered in Verizon's FiOS mobile application allowed an attacker to access the email account of any Verizon customer with relative ease, leaving almost five million user accounts of Verizon's FiOS application at risk.

The FiOS API flaw was founded by XDA senior software developer Randy Westergren on 14, January 2015, when he found that it was possible to not only read the contents of other users' inboxes, but also send message on their behalf.

Randy Westergren wrote:
"It was my suspicion that all of the API methods for this widget within the app were vulnerable. My last test was sending an outgoing message as another user [which was] also successful"
The FiOS API flaw, actually contained in the application’s API, allowed any account to be accessed by manipulating user identification numbers in web requests, giving attackers ability to read individual messages from a person’s Verizon inbox.
Verizon FiOS app leaked 5 Million Customers accounts

According to the security researcher, the vulnerability even allowed attackers to send email messages from victims’ accounts and found and exploited further vulnerable API calls.

Instagram patches flaw that Makes Private Photos Visible to Public

Gadget Updates: Instagram users who make their accounts private may still be exposed to the prying eyes of the public.Your Instagram is not as Private as You Think.

Millions of private Instagram photos may have been exposed publicly on the web until the company patched a privacy hole this weekend.
Instagram team was unaware of a security vulnerability from long time which allowed anyone with access to an image’s URL to view the photo, even those shared by users whose accounts are set to “private.”
If a private user shares an Instagram post with another service, such as Facebook or Twitter as part of the upload process, that shared photo will remain viewable to the public despite its privacy settings

The flaw was first reported by David Yanofsky at Quartz and Instagram acknowledged the issue last week before patching the flaw. In a statement to Quartz, an Instagram representative said:-
'If you choose to share a specific piece of content from your account publicly, that link remains public but the account itself is still private,'
The Instagram vulnerability was only exploitable on the web, not in Instagram’s iOS and Android apps.
'In response to feedback, we made an update so that if people change their profile from public to private, web links that are not shared on other services are only viewable to their followers on Instagram.'
According To Latest Tech News Even with the loophole closed, but anyone can still able to share your images online without your permission by viewing the page source, or by taking a screenshot.

Google leaves 930 million Android devices vulnerable to hackers |Google stops providing patches for WebView Jelly Bean and Prior|

Google leaves 930 million Android devices vulnerable to hackers

Google stops providing patches for WebView Jelly Bean and Prior

Google no longer will provide WebView patches for older versions of its operating system.
As if Google wasn’t already getting enough criticism from Microsoft and security experts for revealing a vulnerability in Windows 8 to the public, the company is now being lambasted for its own software policy. Android users, who don’t have the KitKat or Lollipop version on their handsets and tablets about 939 million devices are affected by a vulnerability in Android WebView. Google was made aware of this vulnerability several months ago, but it insists on not providing a patch for old versions of Android.

According to Tod Beardsley, a security researcher at Rapid7, Google has stopped developing patches for pre-KitKat WebView bugs in Android. Many security experts have reported a number of bugs in the past few months, but Google has refused to offer a fix, leaving it up to the OEMs and independent developers to do it themselves.

“If the affected version [of WebView] is before 4.4, we generally do not develop the patches ourselves, but welcome patches with the report for consideration. Other than notifying OEMs, we will not be able to take action on any report that is affecting versions before 4.4 that are not accompanied with a patch,” Google told Beardsley.

The vulnerability has been found in Android WebView, a core component in Android 4.3 and lower. It allows apps to display web pages without having to open another application. This is one of the reasons why it is so concerning as it interacts with other Android services, leaving all of them vulnerable.
Google replaced it in Android KitKat, as a result of which, any version of Android on or above KitKat is not vulnerable to WebView bug. However, most Android users aren’t on KitKat or Lollipop just yet. According to the Google’s latest Android distribution figures, about 60 percent of Android devices run Jelly Bean or lower version, and less than 40 percent use KitKat and while not even 0.1 percent use the latest Lollipop version.

“Google’s reasoning for this policy shift is that they ‘no longer certify 3rd party devices that include the Android Browser’, and ‘the best way to ensure that Android devices are secure is to update them to the latest version of Android’,”
Android devices vulnerable to hackers

However, According to the Android Developers Dashboard, 60 percent of Android users are on Jelly Bean 4.3 or older, an estimate of 930 million out of date Android devices.

Indian government ordered internet service providers to unblock 32 websites

Indian Government Ordered ISPs To Unblock 32 Websites

The government has ordered internet service providers (ISPs) to unblock 32 websites and website links it had asked them to block in December.
Indian Government Ordered ISPs To Unblock 32 Websites
Indian Government Unblock 32 Websites
Its decision to put curbs on these sites had stirred up massive online protests and debates over the need for standard procedures to deal with such situations.

Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) director-general Gulshan Rai confirmed to ET that the unblocking orders had been sent to ISPs.

Acting on an order by a Mumbai court, the government on December 17 asked ISPs to block 32 websites, which included popular online tools like GitHub and SourceForge used by thousands of programmers. The court's action was based on a complaint by the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad, which claimed that these sites were being used to spread pro-terror messages.

"If the government has indeed decided to unblock those websites, it is welcome. The step was prompted likely by the backlash it faced from internet users in the country, and could also reflect some serious rethinking within government as it attempts to defend Section 69A before the Supreme Court," said Arun Mohan Sukumar, senior fellow at the Centre for Communication Governance, National Law University.

The government had invoked Section 69A of the Information Technology Act to ban these websites. The section allows the government to block websites when it fears that the "sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States or public order" is under threat.

While the rules for blocking websites and website links are clearly laid out, there are no clear procedures for lifting the curbs.

"The fact remains that ad hoc blocking without any sound policy guidelines reflects poorly on the government's commitment to a free and open internet," added Sukumar.

According to people familiar with the matter, instructions for lifting curbs on websites or links are extremely few. While ISPs have to inform concerned authorities on compliance, there are no audits or checks to ascertain if the orders have been complied with. The CERT-In is one of the agencies involved in the process of blocking and unblocking of websites. Other such agencies are the Department of Electronics and Information Technology and Department of Telecommunications.

According to experts, the government could look at framing blocking rules on the lines of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act in the US, which lays down clear guidelines for online service providers and ISPs to block access to alleged infringing material.

The hackers have “made an enemy” and warning that “now you are all going down”.

Anonymous vs Lizard Squad

There have been several fake and alleged “anonymous” videos and claims about a declared war against Lizard Squad. The most popular video was an alleged anonymous video claiming that anonymous would work together with government, police and FBI to take down lizard squad, which anonymous later confirmed that it was fake. Here are the two real videos, where anonymous declares war against the infamous Lizard Squad

Anonymous Second Message To Lizard Squad Hacker Team

Greetings Gaming Community & Lizard Squad aka Finest, It has come to our attention that despite our continued warnings you have decided to disregard our requests to stop promoting propaganda such as “Anonymous has joined up with the FBI”. The only Anon that ever worked with the FBI is Sabu,
The former Lulzsec’s leader and now he’s know as the biggest traitor and scumbag that shopped hes friends to the police in order to save himself among all Anonymous parties. The Leader of Lizard Squad Jord is also the leader of Finest Squad which is in the same position as Sabu (shopped two of hes friends to the police after hacked by Anonymous and, now is struggling to escape from us). Everything that’s happening right now such as “Interview” is a typical brainwashing method of drama in order to save himself. You have made an enemy of Anonymous by saying that we are supporting FBI and now you are all going down!

Government blocks 32 websites including GitHub, DailyMotion, PasteBin and more

Indian Government blocks 32 websites including GitHub, DailyMotion, PasteBin and More

Indian Government Blocks 32 websites including GitHub, DailyMotion, PasteBin and More

The Centre has blocked 32 websites, Including github.com, dailymotion.com, vimeo.com, pastebin.com and More. In an effort to curb ISIS propaganda, prompting a wave of online protests.

An Indian "hacktivist" group, Anonymous India, has threatened reprisal. By Wednesday evening, however, websites that had complied with the government order to remove objectionable content had been unblocked, sources said.

A confidential department of telecom order, dated December 17, instructing all internet service licensees to block the websites appeared online on Wednesday. When contacted to verify the news, Dr Gulshan Rai, director of the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), told TOI the directions had been issued to internet service providers following a Mumbai additional chief metropolitan magistrate's November order directing the government's Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) to implement the same.

He added that Mumbai's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had approached the judiciary after interrogating Arif Majeed, a 23-year-old ISIS recruit from Kalyan. More recently, Bengaluru professional Mehdi Biswas was arrested for allegedly spreading ISIS propaganda on Twitter. "These websites were being used to invite youths to join ISIS. We had contacted the websites sometime back and asked for the removal of the objectionable content. At that time, our communications were ignored. Some of them have now agreed to work with the government. The websites that have complied are being unblocked," Rai told TOI.

The move met with opposition from the online community. While the tech community opposed the Github ban, others were upset about video-sharing websites like dailymotion.com and vimeo.com being taken down. "By blocking vimeo and dailymotion along with other websites, India is walking in the footsteps of Pakistan," tweeted @baawraman.

The list of websites in the DoT document was heavy on large text-sharing and collaboration websites, like Github and Pastebin, popular with coders and software developers. Many objected to the blocking of entire websites instead of specific URLs hosting problematic content. However, Rai explained that individual URLs could not be blocked because of the "high mobility of content" on the websites. "It can just be removed and pasted elsewhere. There are no checks and balances," he said.

Hacktivist group Anonymous India tweeted, "One fine morning, Indian government decided to block sites like Github. Now now, it is time to wake-up. Government of India, Expect Us," a tweet from their handle @opindia_revenge said.

As questions began to be raised on social networks, BJP IT cell head Arvind Gupta tweeted, "The websites that have been blocked were based on an advisory by the Anti-Terrorism Squad, and were carrying anti-India content from ISIS. The sites that have removed objectionable content and/or cooperated with the ongoing investigations, are being unblocked."

The sustainability of counter-measures like blanket blocking to contain threats is being questioned. Prasanth Sugathan, counsel at Software Freedom and Law Center, said such a move is short-sighted. "If you block one website, terrorists can always use another one. Or they will move to using encrypted channels, peer-to-peer communication or even telephones. One can't block everything. In my opinion, such a move only inconveniences the daily users and doesn't solve the long-term purpose," said Sugathan. The sentiment was echoed by common Twitter users as well.
